Digital Comics

No drawing skills necessary!  This educational and fun workshop will teach students the basics of how to write a comic.  Students will learn a simple story line concept, work on setting, location, and characters.  The best part will be putting it all together using a computer and special software! 

Digital comic writing works on reading and writing skills, creativity, technology use, and is simply just a fun and productive hobby!  The goal of this workshop is to help students learn how to create a short comic, and then apply that knowledge in creating a digital graphic representation of a story. 

This workshop is offered three ways:

  • In-class Whole Division (2 x 1.5 hour sessions) $350 per class/division
  • Lunch (4 x 45 min-1 hour sessions) $50 / student (12 max)
  • After School (3 x 90 min sessions) $50 / student (12 max)

What the workshop includes:

  • Overview of story writing concepts
  • Access to the software used for digital comics
  • Guidance and tutorial on how to create a digital story
  • Creation of a digital story and tutorial on how to use the software
  • Access to software full features for 3 months

Provisions from your school:

  • Access to computers/laptops for each student (sessions can take place in a computer lab)
  • Internet access for students and the instructor (me)
  • Projector and screen for me to use to teach and demonstrate
  • Email address for each student 1 week ahead of time so I can set up login and access to the software I use
  • Beneficial to have a mouse for each student, but not necessary
